VeriSign sponsors the dot NGO website as part of it is Corporate Social Responsibility program that was launched on August 26, 2009. The program’s mission is to make a positive and lasting impact to the global Internet community and the communities in which we live and work by focusing our resources in the areas of Internet Safety and Security, Education, Human Services and Environment. At the end of the first six months, VeriSign Cares has made great progress under its two flagship programs – Matching Gifts and Volunteering. A total of $90K in donations ($45K in employee donations and $45K in matching gifts) has been made to over 40 non profits across the US, Europe and Asia. This also includes the generous contributions made by employees to the Haiti Disaster Relief Funds of Red Cross, UNICEF, World Vision, Save the Children and Care. All employee donations to Haiti were matched up to $3K by VeriSign Cares. VeriSign Cares volunteering initiatives saw over 15% of the total employee population contributing close to 750 hours of their time at various community engagements. Volunteers engaged with non profits such as Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest Food Bank, Operation Home Front, Potomac Conservancy, and Resource Area for Teachers in the US and Action for Children and Humanium in Europe. Strengthening the existing programs and initiating new programs in the areas of Internet Safety and Security and Education are the VeriSign Cares program priorities in 2010. |
